<abstract>This will serve as a baseline dataset (2007-2011) for identifying existing conservation practices on the Iowa landscape and helping determine and recommend where to locate additional conservation practices.</abstract>
<purpose>The Conservation Practices Mapping (CPM) dataset consists of digitized farm practices as vectors. Stripcropping is represented by drawing a polygon. The CPM data set was prepared by digitizing conservation practices using natural color and color infrared imagery as well as LiDAR derived products such as hillshade and slope. The year of the LiDAR flight served as the base year for photography and then a year before and after the flight served for additional reference photos. Using the photomaps and LiDAR as reference the conservation practices were digitized on-screen with digital orthophotography using ESRIs (Environmental Systems Research Institute) ArcMap GIS Product. Watersheds were digitized by student workers and reviewed by Iowa Department of Natural Resources and GIS Facility Staff.
The CPM datasets are projected in the UTM coordinate system, NAD 83.</purpose>
